Mount Vernon at Home

Mount Vernon at Home (MVAH) is a newly formed organization that will assist seniors who wish to remain in their homes as long as possible.  It is generally based on www.BeaconHillVillage.org , www.Cambridgeathome.org, and a few other similar groups, but will be tailored to our local population's needs and desires. Similar groups are also being formed in the City of Alexandria and on Capitol Hill, DC.

Mount Vernon at Home (MVAH) will cover an approximate 16 square mile area, roughly from the Alexandria city line south to Ft. Belvoir, and from the Potomac River west to (and including) Richmond Highway.  It is incorporated as a non-profit - will conform to IRS regulations, and all donations will be tax deductible.

Services will include immediate access to homeowner repair experts, medical assistance persons/groups, and cultural & social activities.  At MVAH's first public meeting on October 22nd, Mike DiCicco from the Gazette papers, reported in great detail some of the aims of the org. This account can be read at: http://www.connectionnewspapers.com/article.asp?article=89707&paper=69&cat=104.

Mount Vernon at Home will be getting more information to area subdivisions through small focus groups.  If you wish more information, or would like to be included in a focus group, please contact Kae Wells, 703-360-6159, wells2600@verizon.net, or MVAH president, Mary-Carroll Potter, 703-768-6590, marycarrollpotter@verizon.net.
